Health and Safety Manager

• Position: Health and Safety Manager
• Salary:? up to £35,000
• Location: Hailsham and travel to sites in Sussex and Kent
• Hours:? 32 hours - working four days a week 9am-5pm
• Pension, 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays, performance bonus, company car after probation

We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety professional for a Compliance Manager role in Sussex. Ideally you’ll be an experienced H&S, Occupational Health professional, QSHE or QEHS Manager.

This is a great opportunity to manage Health and Safety with a growing commercial waste management business. Health and Safety responsibility will be for four sites so strong QSHE knowledge is needed as well as a H&S related qualification such as IOSH, IEMA or similar QESH recognised qualification.

The Health and Safety Manager will:

• Stay updated on QEHS laws and regulations and apply them to company practices to minimize Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety risks
• Manage and ensure QSHE compliance of all sites and in line with relevant accreditation and certification requirements
• Be the Company’s Technically Competent Manager in all aspects of QEH&S.
• Promote the continuing improvement in Health and Safety for all business areas
• Support all investigations of HSE accidents & incidents and develop necessary actions to mitigate reoccurrence
• Maintain the Company ISO certifications
• Act as point of contact for all Enforcing Authorities, such as the HSE, Environment Agency etc
• Manage and monitor all Environmental and Health & Safety statutory emission testing

You’ll need to be certified IOSH or IEMA, with or willing to work towards WMITAB qualification. With work/travel to various sites in the Southeast you’ll need a full clean UK driving licence. Knowledge and experience in the waste management or recycling industry would be a distinct advantage.
