Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre

Salary: Up to £36400 per annum

To be a member of the Centre Management Team with accountability for the Student Support Department including welfare and learning support, progression support and student engagement and transition (an indicative list of areas and themes is provided below for illustration, but this is not intended to be an exhaustive list).

The post holder will be part of the Centre Management Team reporting directly to the Deputy Centre Director (Student Experience) and will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead. You will play a vital role in achieving the delivery of the best possible student experience.

The post holder will line manage the Student Support Coordinators, the Lead Student Support Officer (Engagement and Transition) and the Student Support Officer (Engagement and Transition).

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Lead and manage Student Support Department, ensuring optimal student outcomes and experiences.
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, reporting directly to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Oversee the delivery of the PASS (Progression and Student Success) programme for student progression support.
  • Coordinate student engagement and transition activities, including induction and outduction processes.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal teams for holistic student support approaches.
  • Cultivate partnerships within the Study Group network to enhance student support services.
  • Collaborate with university partners to promote effective engagement for student benefit.
  • Develop robust partnerships with Marketing Team, agents, and sponsors to meet strategic targets.
  • Conduct performance management of direct reports, including setting objectives and conducting reviews.
  • Manage departmental action plans, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and enhancement policies.

ABOUT YOU

  • Level 6 Qualification
  • Higher Level Safeguarding Training (Desirable)
  • Providing Student Support in an educational setting
  • Working with international students and an understanding of welfare, wellbeing and cultural issues that may arise (Desirable)
  • Experience of successfully motivating and leading a team, or the coordination of a suitably complex task or project, resulting in successful outcomes.
  • Experience of providing developmental feedback to others, which achieved a positive improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, written and verbal.
  • Cultural appreciation and empathy skills
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and analyse data for reporting, to aid decision making or to support a case for change.
