Do you consider yourself a service charge and rent accounting expert within social housing? Want to partner with an impressive Finance Director and drive forward a business transformation project? Could you capably lead a team of over six with four direct reports? Please read on if so!

Robertson Bell are working with this dynamic housing association whilst they recruit for a newly created Head of Service Charge and Rents. Reporting into a highly dedicated and skilled Finance Director, you will be relied upon to provide strong management to the team and assist them in achieving the strategic aims of the organisation.

Duties for the Head of Service Charge and Rents will include:

  • Oversee all matters related to rent accounting, service charges and billing. This will include motivating the team and setting the direction through new strategies all whilst ensuring income generation is maximised.
  • Lead on the annual review for service charges and rents and be fully responsible for rents and service charge budgets.
  • Highlight any potential hazards of troublesome matters to the Finance Director to ensure the associations reputation isn’t at risk.
  • Drive forward an improvement programme related to the service charge remit with an aim to advance levels of recovery.
  • Ensure residents feel satisfied with the service provided by the team and that required procedures are clear to leaseholders.
  • Set the service charge and rent policy for the entire association.
  • Drive accountability across the finance team and increase the teams knowledge on service charge costs.

This position will be based close to Orpington, Kent and will require two visits per week to the office. The permanent Head of Service Charge and Rents will benefit from a collaborative working environment and will have a genuine change to make a positive impact.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Proven in rents and service charge accounting within social housing.
  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities with a good track record of motivating teams.
  • A clear communicator who is confident when collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • Confident when driving improvements and leading projects.
