Job Title: Head of Psychology
Reporting to: MD of Residential

Gilbert Meher is supporting a national provider of education and care in their search for a Head of Psychology.

Purpose of Role:
Improve the overall therapeutic offering by providing optimised direct therapeutic support to young people. Contribute to the development and performance of the service, ensuring contractual output targets and divisional KPIs are achieved.

Accountable for:
Ensuring the systematic provision of high-quality psychology and psychological therapy services within a highly specialised field across our Residential and Supported Accommodation divisions. Responsible for meeting the therapeutic needs of young people and implementing psychological models and evidence-based practices within staff teams.

Dimensions of the Role:
Base: Hybrid working – with some travel to sites across England.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation, mentorship, supervision, and advice on psychological issues to team members and professionals working with children/young people.
  • Contribute to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care for all clients.
  • Maintain professional standards through CPD training, development programs, and ensuring team members' professional registration.
  • Develop best practices in psychology within Residential and Supported Accommodation divisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for training development and showcasing therapeutic offerings.
  • Support operational teams to achieve divisional growth targets and financial KPIs.
  • Exercise responsibility for systematic governance of psychological practice.
  • Manage own diary, administration requirements, and data deadlines effectively.
  • Provide evidence-based advice and support in treatment decisions.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety policies and promote best practices.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and monitoring of operational policies and services.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping and implement robust systems for record maintenance.
  • Support the delivery of the group strategy and champion company values.
Key Deliverables:
  • Design, implement, and oversee therapeutic offerings.
  • Design a system for evidenced and measurable team outputs.
  • Contribute to the formulation of a therapy dashboard with a monthly management information report.
  • Line manage a team of psychologists.
  • Maintain compliance with KPIs and SLAs.
  • Monitor team work output and address under-performance.
  • Embed therapeutic approach throughout divisions.
Requirements for the Role:
  • Experience leading a similar function within Health and Social Care/Education.
  • Strong record of achievement against KPIs.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional judgment and ability to balance multiple projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and administrative skills.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
  • Team-oriented and results-focused.
  • Strong IT literacy.
