Role: Head of Operations

Salary up to £70,000 DOE

Hours: Your normal hours of work are 8:15am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.00pm on Friday. Your basic working hours per week are 40 hours.

Reporting to the MD

This senior role will effectively lead all operations activities across the production facilities in GB for my client in Buckinghamshire and Somerset. To ensure delivery of world-class standards of manufacturing and service to client’s customer base whilst supporting the profitable growth of the business. To act as a champion of the Company Values.

Compliance
  • Cooperating with and support the compliance management system and encouraging personnel to do the same.
  • Developing personnel awareness of product compliance obligations
  • Actively participate in corrective actions from concerns or internal audits.
  • Ensuring that all personnel within their control are complying with the organisations product compliance obligations, policies, processes and procedures.
  • Integrating product compliance obligations into existing business practises and procedures in their area of responsibility and encouraging a compliance culture
  • Encouraging their personnel to raise product compliance concerns.
 Key Responsibilities
  • H&S - Ensure the organisation complies with Health and Safety and other legal obligations at all times and develop a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety.
  • Planet Passionate – Leading Net Zero Energy projects across the sites in Ireland and ensure their delivery within required timescales.
  • Compliance - Ensure that all product compliance requirements are met at all times, including all regulatory controls required from a business, sector and regional perspective are managed and are current, including but not exclusively ISO 9001, 14001 and 450001
  • Leadership - Effective leadership and development of the Operational Management teams to enable them to perform to the standards required by the business, setting clear performance objectives and measuring progress against these targets.
  • Investment - Prepare and manage all current assets and present clear business cases for capex investment and ensure they are implemented on time and within agreed budgets.
  • Cost Management – to manage resources and budgets to ensure effective controls are in place and remain within budget to drive improved returns on investments.
  • Continuous Improvement – set clear goals and objectives for all operations functions to drive profitable growth across the sites. Develop a “lean” culture that keeps manufacturing operations under constant review, with particular emphasis on improved processes including automation.
  • Quality – Delivering consistently high quality product that exceed customer and market demands and foster a culture of ‘right first time every time.’
  • Culture - Ensure that the Company’s values are lived by all, communicated and adhered to consistently.
  • Communication - Undertake regular communications and other activities with employees to foster a culture of employee engagement at all levels of the business.
  • People Development - develop succession plans, talent development and management with managers and other key staff as well as fostering a culture of investment in employees.
  • Collaboration – work collaboratively with other members of the leadership team and in other functional areas to drive best practice and continuous improvement with our people and the customer at the centre of our focus.,
  • Any other duties or tasks that are in keeping with the scope of this role.
Qualification
  • Relevant business management qualification/training or educated to degree level.
  • Proven leadership with at least 5 years’ operational management experience, including having responsibility for multiple sites.
  • Successful track record of leading a large operational team.
  • Exceptional leadership and people skills, tough and resilient, whilst being able to manage through delegation.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality and cost objectives.
  • Experience of working in the Roto Moulding/GRP industries is a desirable
Abilities & Skills
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Performance driven with a proven record of success within a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have the ability to adhere to and champion the Company’s values of Integrity, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork and Courage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, well-versed in Lean manufacturing and sourcing and other business improvement methodologies.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated.
  • Numerate and possessing good analytical skills, with experience of tracking production statistics, variances, KPIs etc. Computer literate.
  • Ability to travel and possess a full, clean driving licence
