Head of MFL
  • Salary Range: L1-L10 £44,305 - £58,959
  • Location: Blackburn and Darwen area
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an inspiring Head of MFL to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Secondary School in the Blackburn and Darwen area. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator, capable of delivering high-quality teaching in Modern Foreign Languages at KS3 and KS4 levels. This leadership role is set to commence in September 2024, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Collaborate with Senior Leaders and subject staff to establish and implement short, medium, and long-term plans for the development and resourcing of the MFL department.
  • Lead by example as a Leader of Learning, maintaining a clear vision of outstanding learning within the subject area.
  • Uphold the highest standards of teaching and learning, consistently targeting areas for improvement with significant impact.
  • Provide guidance on the choice of appropriate and effective teaching and learning methods to address the needs of all pupils and ensure high-impact teaching.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in leading a department or team within a secondary school setting.
  • Expertise in teaching Modern Foreign Languages with a track record of high student achievement.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of educational best practices.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and meet all national safeguarding criteria.
