The Role

This is a high-profile Head of Finance (number one) opportunity in West Yorkshire. This role will serve as the business partner and strategic advisor to the Head of Operations, who you will have an operational reporting line into. You will also have a functional reporting line to the Regional Finance Lead. Working closely with the rest of the Executive Leadership Team, you will assume responsibility for all aspects of the business. This involves analysing financial performance, advising the senior management team on these findings, and implementing recommendations.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a high-performing, high profile business unit within the group and to further improve growth and profitability. Accountable for the day-to-day financial operations and long-term strategy, key responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on all matters relating to financial performance, ensuring results are in accordance with forecast, budget and 3-year growth plans
  • Support and challenge growth plan initiatives to drive prioritisation of corporate approval and investment
  • Facilitate Sales forecast alignment and interface between operations and sales to present the full picture of expected results, and identify opportunities to exceed targets
  • Provide month end performance report v forecast, budget, and prior year at a meaningful level to the business
  • Develop Net Working Capital management and improvement plans with the business
  • Challenge expenditure to enable control of fixed cost bases
  • Leading the budgeting, forecast and planning process
  • Ensuring a robust financial control environment is maintained
  • Leading and developing a high performing finance team

Candidate Profile

For this Head of Finance (number one) opportunity in West Yorkshire, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with previous experience in a large manufacturing/engineering business with experience of leading a finance function. Must also demonstrate a proven track record as a strategic financial business partner, able to drive value and make an impact. Prior international experience will also be important.

The role requires a Head of Finance who has the strength of character to challenge whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner. It is also important that you are comfortable leading change, capable of influencing at all levels and understand what a best-in class finance function looks like.

You will need to demonstrate a strong commercial acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic discussions and support the long-term growth potential. The ability to produce clear and concise narrative will be essential.

An ability to manage complex and diverse environments, whilst still promoting a culture of continuous improvement, as a dynamic and hands-on leader. A commitment to personal growth and development, personally and for colleagues will also be crucial.

They are able to offer a flexible/ hybrid working pattern. In return, some flexibility to travel will be required.
