Elevation Executive Finance are delighted to be the retained partner of Grupo Bimbo in the appointment of a new Head of Finance. Grupo Bimbo are one of the largest bakeries in the world, Headquartered in Mexico, with a regional Head Office in Spain. The UK division of the group has been based in Swinton since the acquisition of New York Bakery in 2017 and have continued to expand since. Grupo has extremely ambitious plans for the UK, looking to triple turnover over the next few years through organic growth and further acquisitions.

The Head of Finance will be a key role within the UK business moving forward. The role will report directly into the UK Finance Director, leading a strong and experienced finance function of around 20. Whilst the FD will be there to consult and support, this is a role that will have a large amount of autonomy – meaning an experienced leader of both people and a finance function is essential. Whilst there are some excellent people and processes in place so far, there is plenty of scope and desire for someone to come in and drive forward changes that will benefit not just the finance function but also the wider business. As Grupo continues its aggressive growth plans, the Head of Finance will be tasked with future proofing the function, embracing new technology and processes (including working with the Head of Digital Transformation) to ensure that the function and business is ready to handle the demands of being a much larger organisation.

The new Head of Finance will bring with them a vision for what a best-in-class function looks like, before working with the Finance Director and Senior finance leaders that report into the role to bring that vision to life. The Finance Director is looking for someone who will look to develop the team on a collective level but also on an individual basis, helping to progress the talent within the team to ensure future progression plans are in place to combat the extra growth in roles caused the increased demands on the business. The role will be expected to provide firm and clear leadership, driving performance improvement and leading by example on accountability.

This is a key business partner role and will represent the function in key projects/initiatives/meetings with senior stakeholders in BUK, EMEA, corporate and externally. This role will work alongside other key ‘Heads of’, as well as liaising with key directors in a variety of projects and BAU tasks.

With the upcoming growth of Grupo in the UK, the Finance Director is looking for someone who is both experienced enough to take on the task at hand – whilst also being able to grow with the role and business. We are looking for someone who;

  • Is a UK Qualified Finance Leader
  • Has led a finance function and worked in a senior role for a substantial amount of time
  • Can demonstrate experience of working within a business going through extensive change
  • Can demonstrate experience of strong people management.
  • Has worked in a similarly fast paced business, in a senior role
  • Can highlight strong examples of previous senior business partnering – and a passion for it
  • Wants to implement a vision for what a ‘best-in-class’ function entails

This is a superb opportunity for someone wanting an exciting challenge in a fast-growing business. The seniority of this role means that exceptional leadership and communication skills are essential – with the Finance Director needing someone capable of managing relationships on a 360-degree basis. Alongside this fantastic opportunity, Grupo are offering an excellent salary and senior leadership package.
