Macildowie are delighted to be supporting a growing housing association in Cambridgeshire in the appointment of a Head of Finance Business Partnering.

The Head of Finance Business Partnering plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial sustainability and strategic direction of the housing association. They are responsible for overseeing the production of accurate long-term investment needs, assessing business opportunities, and providing financial leadership and support to senior management and key stakeholders.

This critical role will lead a team in the provision of financial and strategic support to the wider organisation.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Long-Term Investment Planning: Lead the production of the long-term investment needs for existing stock as part of the 30-year business plan. Ensure that the data is accurate, robust, and aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • Business Plan Updates: Lead in-year updates to the business plan, evaluating the impact of new business opportunities, including investments in Joint Venture companies. Assess emerging risks and capacity increases, and evaluate the potential impact on regulatory compliance and stakeholder relationships.
  • Stakeholder Reporting: Produce effective and meaningful reports for the Board and external stakeholders. Present financial information in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that key messages are communicated effectively.
  • Finance Business Partnering: Develop and lead an effective finance business partnering service to budget and service managers. Incorporate methods for measuring value for money into functional plans, and provide financial challenge and support to senior managers as a constructive "critical friend."
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Lead the production, monitoring, and reporting of performance against budgets. Make recommendations for corrective actions to address variances identified, and support the continuous improvement of value for money across all functions.
  • Income Optimisation: Optimise income streams and ensure that value for money is obtained across all functions. Identify opportunities for revenue generation and cost savings, and provide strategic guidance to maximise financial sustainability.
  • Management Reporting: Prepare clear and concise board and management reports on financial performance, budgets, business plans, and performance information. Support the delivery of timely and reliable management accounts, enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant experience in finance leadership roles within the housing sector.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate a high-performing finance business partnering team.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to align financial objectives with organisational goals and drive performance improvement initiatives.
