Here at Phixos who are part of the Blakebrook Group, we have a great opportunity for a Head of Engineering to join our highly skilled, friendly team of engineers and project managers. As Head of Engineering, you will manage the Software and Firmware aspects of the business and own the Engineering capabilities, processes and delivery, as well as driving improvements to ensure the methodologies, skills and tools deployed are in line with standards and technology changes.

The role is a board designate and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop into a board level position based on performance.

Ideal candidates will hold an active Security clearance, with a background in either Defence or the Military with appropriate project experience within small specialist companies.

·Providing visionary leadership to the engineering team, inspiring excellence and fostering collaboration, innovation and accountability.

·Promoting a culture of technical excellence, ownership and innovation.

·Identify and own improvements to skills, process and tools to ensure continuous improvement of the engineering capability.

·Providing leadership and management oversight to all projects, associated accounts and staff.

·Be external client facing and build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, reporting, transparency, and respsonsiveness to client needs and concerns.

·Proactively identify opportunities for upselling or expanding existing engagements by demonstrating the value of our services and solutions.

·Ensure timely and budget compliant planning, monitoring, and delivery of all projects, whilst achieving all quality objectives.

·Define and communicate clear objectives, expectations, and performance metrics to ensure alignment with company goals.

·Submit weekly efficiency, risk and issue reports to directors, and deliver board reports for the group board.

·Generate project proposals, estimations and bids.

·Ensure effective management of project risks, variances and resources to budget and project objectives, and put in place risk mitigation to reduce and eliminate impact.

·Recognise and take ownership of new opportunities within current clients and assist in preparing bids and estimates for potential new projects.

·Assist the Directors in expanding the organisation and advocate opportunities for growth and development.

·Recognise and spearhead enhancements within both the business and engineering domains.

·Manage engineering staff through the entire process from recruitment to performance reviews.

·Operating within a software/firmware environment characterised by high integrity.

·Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage high performing teams.

·Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and executing technical strategies to drive business growth and client satisfaction.

·Results oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high quality solutions on time and within budget.

·Drafting project proposals, estimating project requirements and engaging with external clients for presentations and reporting.

·Responsibilities relating to engineering recruitment and performance evaluation.

·Capability to oversee and implement changes within a project to mitigate risks.

Qualifications:

·Engineering/Technical degree
