The Head of Economic Development will lead a team of 12 to drive economic growth and regeneration across West Lancashire. You will lead operational and programme management of multiple streams to deliver improvements in community, business, economy and regeneration across the area.

There key areas area delivery of the UKSPF programme, Economic Regeneration, Business Engagement, Car Parks, Markets, Tourism and management of the Rangers team.

Description

  • Lead and manage the economic development and regeneration teams.
  • Create and implement strategies to stimulate economic growth.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across both public and private sectors, and Council Members.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of economic development and regeneration initiatives.
  • Team management & leadership of the team
  • Effectively managing relationships with key stakeholders/Funders e.g. DLUHC, Heritage England, 3rd Sector
  • Supporting progression of a Skelmersdale town centre masterplan
  • Leading the Beacon Country Park Masterplan
  • Oversee the robust programme management of UKSPF (circa £4m) & Heritage action zone.
  • Oversight of managing external funding streams and meeting all audit requirements (strong governance financial mgmt.)
  • Development of new economic development strategy
  • Strategic events management (development of an events calendar of activities to increase visitor numbers/economic activity)
  • Community Wealth Building Lead; lead on the delivery of the strategy thought the co-ordination of our CWB Strategy Action Plan

Profile

  • You should be a strong leader, able to influence, engage and collaborate with your team and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tprogramme management skills and the ability to move projects forward
  • Experience in economic development within the public sector.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to take accountability of decisions.
  • Strong understanding of local and national economic and regeneration principles and policies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience securing funding for development projects.
