This role exists to develop and implement an enterprise-level strategy to strengthen our culture and therefore support our ability to win for clients and drive improved returns.

This level of role manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories, and practices relevant to culture change, IO Psychology and behavioural science as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles.

In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required to influence a wide range of audiences.

Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes strategies that positively impact global teams and the enterprise, requiring coordination and integration across units. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget, and planning. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and sits on the highest functional leadership team within a global business.

Key Responsibilities:

The role will lead the following key areas:
  • Stand up and own a culture definition, model and governance approach for the firm, including the establishment and management of an enterprise Culture Council and the alignment of Internal Audit culture approaches.
  • Provide executive management and board updates.
  • Ensure Citi is able to monitor cultural health and behavioral norms in service of our strategic objectives and to meet regulatory expectations of banking culture management.
  • Diagnose the highest priority enterprise culture and behavioral areas to address (either those impeding us or those required to strengthen us).
  • Work in close partnership with peers to ensure this diagnostic output also directs enterprise learning content and colleague communications and engagement, and informs HR strategy.
  • Lead a team of behavioral scientists to carry out projects to identify the behavioral root causes of specific cultural issues and design and test interventions to measurably address them.
  • Oversee the design, deployment and measurement of behavioural change interventions for specific leaders, business or geographies, both directly and/or through the team's advisory capacity.
  • Work closely with and influence Executive Sponsors at EMT level to maximise business ownership of culture work.
  • Oversee an engagement strategy to encourage widespread understanding and commitment to the culture strategy and behavioral science-based change work.
  • Provide regular cultural conditions progress updates, transformation and board reporting, including presenting on culture change to our EMT and external regulators.
  • Set up and oversee an internal culture change advisory practice to provide oversight, consistency and rigor across local culture change efforts.
Knowledge/Experience:
  • In-depth experience and working knowledge of behavioral and culture change approaches, organizational development and complex change work.
  • Experience working as both an internal and external change agent.
  • Ability to operate as a thought leader and expert in behavioral science, behavioral and organisational change.
  • Proven experience of change management and the people and communication skills to support change.
  • Experience delivering large-scale transformation programs and leading organization design into implementation.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, diplomacy and influencing skills; ability to influence seniors and work closely with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a high-volume, complex matrix environment.
  • Ability to build strong relationships as a trusted partner and work as part of a senior management team.
  • High tolerance for dealing with ambiguity and on-going change.
  • Resilient under pressure and self-motivated in a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Ability and willingness to operate at strategic and practical level.
  • Innovative thinker and change agent.
  • High level of analytic capability.
  • MBA or Masters in a Psychology field preferred.
  • Degree in Business, Human Resources Management or related discipline.
  • Background in HR, OD/Change Management or Consulting preferred.
