Reed Further Education are very excited to be recruited for a Head of Apprenticeship and Work Placed Learning for a fantastic college based in Hampshire. The Head of Apprenticeships and Work based Learning to take overall responsibility for the college’s apprenticeship provision and courses delivered.

  • Salary: £42,000 - £49, 000 + excellent benefits

This role is pivotal in driving sustainable growth, operational management of the apprenticeship team, and the commercial performance of the department. The successful candidate will ensure outstanding outcomes for all students and contribute to the achievement of the college’s strategic priorities.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Lead the strategic development of  the department to deliver high-quality training programmes and continually raise standards of learning and achievement.
  • Align apprenticeship delivery with employers’ skills requirements and diversify income sources beyond funded activity.
  • Identify tendering opportunities, prepare successful bids, and develop a comprehensive suite of business services.
  • Oversee the CRM system, ensuring effective management of sales leads, enquiries, and support for marketing activities.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate staff to create a high-performing team that meets annual income, contribution, and KPI targets.
  • Manage staff performance, recognising high performance, addressing unacceptable performance, and facilitating access to training and development.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with curriculum areas and establish relationships with clients to identify new opportunities.
  • Manage the enrolment process, ensuring effective use of information about learners’ previous achievements and robust initial assessment processes.
  • Be responsible for the overall learner and employer experience, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Produce an annual business plan, prepare budgets, and exercise budgetary control.
  • Monitor and report on targets including income, learner enrolment, retention, achievement, and employer engagement.
  • Maintain awareness of ESFA funding rules and operate the college’s Quality Assurance policy and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in managing apprenticeship programmes and work-based learning.
  • Strong strategic planning and operational management skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve targets and high performance.
  • Excellent knowledge of ESFA funding rules and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and inform continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial management and budgetary control.
