Qualified Social Worker - Hackney - Fostering Team

Full time Social Worker (based in the Fostering Support unit). This busy team is experienced, highly supportive, friendly and enthusiastic about what they do. They work hard but also find time to celebrate achievements and good practice. The Fostering Service works closely and cooperatively with colleagues within the Looked After Children and Children in Need Service, and with social workers and managers across Children's Services. The work is interesting, often complex and challenging but is crucial to achieving placement stability and permanence. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, committed and passionate social worker, who will bring comprehensive knowledge and skill-base to the challenge of working with vulnerable children in foster care, their foster carers and have a sound knowledge of fostering and child protection legislation.

The successful candidate will: Hold a Professional Social Work Qualification and be registered as a social worker with Social Work England. With a minimum of three years experience post qualification. Have good knowledge, skills and experience of statutory roles and responsibilities in this area of practice. Have good organisational skills, working within statutory timescales and be responsible for managing their own caseload autonomously with the support of their manager. They must have experience of completing assessments and excellent report writing skills. Be committed to extending your knowledge, skills and experience through learning and development and working closely with others. In addition you should be able to demonstrate working in a relationship based, trauma informed and anti racist way.

Your main responsibilities include:

* Hold and effectively manage a complex and varied caseload with appropriate supervision, guidance, and support, reflecting the function of the team and the Vulnerable People Service in accordance with policy, procedures, guidance and legislation.
* Undertake work within legislative frameworks including the preparation of written statements and representations to the judiciary at Court hearings.
* You will be accountable for complex decision making in relation to caseloads ensuring professional judgement, service user involvement, needs led assessment, critical reflection, and analysis to inform this.
* You will identify and assess levels of risk and need (within statutory frameworks) in often complex situations. Undertake safeguarding investigations and deliver protective and/or supportive services for individuals at risk and maintain up to date assessments, care plans and reviews.
* You will be preparing statements of need/care and support plans, in consultation with other agencies as appropriate, that reflect the wishes of the individual and lead to the commissioning of personalised packages of care.
* You will undertake direct work with adults and their families in line with care plans.
* You will work co-operatively with both internal and external colleagues across multi - agency boundaries.

Essential requirements:

* Social Work England registration
* Eligible to work in the UK
* 2 years+ post-qualified experience
* Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
