Group Tax Manager position now available and law firm which has been created to facilitate the firms continued growth internationally.

This role will suit someone with a wealth of experience within Partnership Tax, either in a law firm already or an accountancy firm with LLP clients or a wider professional services firm with a partnership structure, who can demonstrate and good amount of UK and International Tax exposure.

Supported by a Tax Accountant in the UK, as the Group Tax Manager you will take responsibility for all group (UK and International) tax (direct and indirect) compliance matters with a focus on overseas compliance. You will play a lead role on the group's overall tax strategy and also consider the use of technology in assisting tax compliance.

This is a great opportunity for someone to become a key part of the Reporting and Analysis management team and grow the tax function at the firm.

  • Lead with research and analysis of existing and upcoming tax legislation (locally and internationally) to support the Firm's planning and strategy, for example in relation to the upcoming UK basis period reform and corporate tax in the Middle East.
  • Work with the CFO and GFC to identify and mitigate tax risks (including PE risk and other risks associated with requests to work overseas)
  • Consider alternative tax treatments to alleviate or reduce tax burden as appropriate and the documentation of approaches taken
  • Advise on transfer pricing issues and ensure that the group's transfer pricing policy and documentation are up to date
  • Develop an understanding of global approach to profit sharing in the group
  • Manage tax service providers, including keeping costs within budget
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of the UK LLP and corporate tax returns and computations in conjunction with the Tax Accountant and external tax advisors
  • Act as one of the key contacts (with the CFO, Group FC and Partnership Accountant) for HMRC, tax advisors and partners' accountants on tax matters
  • Oversee the preparation of annual partner tax reserving calculations
  • Oversee the bi-annual partners tax payments in conjunction with the firm's tax advisors.
  • Work closely with Senior Partnership Accountant and Tax Accountant to review partners tax reserves in particular for joiners and leavers
  • Take responsibility for documentation of all tax processes across the Firm, including periodic review and updates
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits or VAT investigations
  • Oversee maintenance of intercompany accounts & invoicing
  • Work closely with International Management Accountant to ensure tax related matters are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns in UK and international locations
  • Ensure compliance with UK and international VAT requirements
  • Oversee the corporate tax compliance for the non UK offices
  • Oversee other HMRC reporting requirements including the PAYE settlement agreement
  • Assist with the firm's cash flow forecasting in relation to tax payments
  • Liaise with overseas office partners and external accountants on statutory reporting and compliance including local tax returns and statutory accounts
