About the role

This is a truly exciting opportunity to join the business within a core, group financial reporting team. You will take on a significant senior manager post playing a significant role in a financial reporting capacity.

You'll be reporting to the Head of Group Reporting, taking ownership for preperation of the statutory financial statements in line with listing company requirements alongside non-listed company subsidiaries. As part of your role, you'll take ownership for ensuring any changes in statutory reporting are accurately delivered within the business, whilst working closely with the Head of Group Technical Reporting and overseeing a team of 4 direct reports.

You will deliver effective communication and delivery of new requirements to the business to ensure correct information is collected for inclusion in the financial statements.

Your duties and responsibilitie swill include:

- Responsible for the preparation of the Group financial statements in line with UK listing rules, the interim financial statements, analysis required for presentation purposes, as well as preparing finance sections of the Annual Report, including group reserves disclosures and other notes the financial statements.
- Co-ordinate and oversee the subsidiary stat process as well as preparing the financial statements of specific UK subsidiary statutory accounts ensuring that any new reporting requirements, group accounting policies and accounting standards are correctly reflected in the financial statements.
- Ensure that any new reporting requirements are interpreted and assessed in relation to the company financial statements and that current disclosures are compliant with relevant regulations (IFRS/FRS101). Communicate any additional reporting requirements to the business in a meaningful manner to drive engagement and ensure any new requirements are implemented successfully, working closely with the technical team.
- Financial accounting and reporting of the  pensions schemes. Review IAS 19 assumptions and prepare the disclosures for the interim/annual accounts.
- Responsible for reviewing of key accounting areas ensuring quality supporting documentation and accurate accounting treatment in line with relevant accounting standards, including share-based payments, joint ventures and associates and the captive insurer.
- Monitoring and reporting to the Audit Committee on topics including non-audit fees paid to the auditors, an update on pension assumptions impacting the financial statements and other relevant financial reporting matters.
- Be the prime Group interface with external auditors regarding statutory accounting matters.
- Ensure that appropriate procedures and tools are implemented to enable the Group to meet statutory requirements.
- Ensure that acquisitions/disposals and any other corporate transactions are correctly reflected and reported.
- Work with and effectively manage relationships with Head of Group Reporting Head of Group, Technical Accounting, Chief Accountants, Heads of Corporate Functions, including Tax, Treasury, M&A and others, Company Secretariat and Head of Investor Relations.


About you

  • A fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Prior FTSE100 listing experience and experience of producing complex FTSE statutory financial statements is essential (FTSE250 experience will also be considered)
  • You will ideally be straight from practice or from industry. Particular industry / sector experience is not essential for this role.
  • Able to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals and teams.
  • Well organised, resilient and flexible.
  • Excellent attention to detail, curiosity to understand complex accounting and be willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an excellent ability to interpret and communicate complex information and articulate it in a straight-forward manner.
