Group Financial Accountant

Annual Salary: £40-50K gross per annum (depending on skills and experience)

My client is currently seeking a Group Financial Accountant to oversee the financial reporting, adding value and insight to their leadership teams and shareholders. This role is pivotal in supporting financial planning and analysis activities, and driving continuous improvement through system implementation and process redesign.

Day-to-day of the role:

Conduct monthly reconciliation of transactions, focusing on income and cost of goods

Reconcile and produce commission and sales reports.

Calculation of payroll and salary reporting.

Oversee quarterly VAT returns across the Group.

Prepare and post monthly journals and manage the costing of stock values.

Report on cashflow and support cash management, including monthly cashflow variances and forecasting.

Ensure daily system backups and maintain SAGE for new customers, creditors, products, and users.

Calculate and maintain excise duty on SAGE.

Create monthly management accounts for the group and individual companies, providing relevant commentary and analysis.

Explain variances from forecast for all gross margin and overhead categories.

Reconcile nominal ledger control accounts and support audit activities and year-end preparation.

Assist with forecasts and budgeting activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience within a similar role.

You should have a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

Experience in a fast-paced Finance role, including month-end management.

Knowledge of accounting treatments, stock costing, and reconciliations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.

Excel proficiency and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero).
