Group FD - TV Production

Highly successful and growing scripted TV production company are looking for a strong Group Finance Director to be in charge of the financial management of 4 main UK companies and a number of UK subsidiaries.

Managing a team of 5 the FD will have a double reporting, to the CFO of the Production Group that controls the UK holding company, and to the CEO of the UK Group. Financial reporting to and communication with the ultimate shareholder will be set up on a regular basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To organise the financial department of the UK group, including defining the roles of the people currently working in the department in order to build up an experienced department able to deliver accounts within the ultimate shareholder's deadlines.
  • To be responsible for and manage the accounts of the 4 companies and their subsidiaries and to produce the financial reports in an accurate and timely manner. This will include individual accounts and reports for each company as well as consolidated accounts and reports and to manage intercompany balances effectively and efficiently.
  • To be in charge of the financial planning, producing the annual Budget and 3 year BP, together with the CEO / COO and Head of Production, as well as being aware of any variances and reporting them in a timely manner. The Head of Production will provide the necessary reports and data regarding the development of each production.
  • To oversee the financial forecasts of each production, including the cash-flow needs for each production as well as overseeing the different SPVs that may need to be set up for specific productions.
  • To produce a detailed and accurate cash-flow so the companies' financial needs are clear to the management and the investors at all times.
  • To oversee and optimise the companies' tax payments and tax liabilities.
  • To oversee the dealings with third parties such as financial entities, external auditors, tax advisors, international production service companies etc.
  • To review and implement financial procedures and best practices across all functions.
  • To review and improve the IT tools used for producing statutory accounts and production accounts.

The ideal candidate:

  • Qualified ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Solid accounting and financial knowledge and experience
  • A strong commercial and operational approach
  • 10 years experience working at or with a TV production company, preferably a scripted one.
  • The role could also suit an experienced auditor that has worked for the media sector (specifically TV production).
  • Spanish speaker or Spanish native speaker proficient in English and with extensive experience in the UK would be an asset.
