Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Streatham
  • Salary: 85 - £110 per day
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, working under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Attend to pupils’ personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, encouraging interaction and engagement in teacher-led activities.
  • Prepare and clear the classroom for lessons, assist with the display of pupils’ work, and provide clerical/administrative support as needed.
  • Support the curriculum by helping pupils understand instructions, use basic ICT, and maintain equipment/resources.
  • Contribute to the school’s ethos, work, and aims, and participate in relevant meetings and training activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with or caring for children of relevant age.
  • Numeracy and literacy qualifications at NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or currently enrolled on a course working towards this.
  • Completion of DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme is desirable.
  • Knowledge of first aid.
  • Proficiency in using basic technology such as computers, video equipment, and photocopiers.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults and work constructively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people, with up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
