Graduate Quantity Surveyor

£25,000+ (DOE)

Coventry, office based

Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

The Role:

  • Work closely with the Commercial Manager and support various teams including operations, precontract, and project delivery.
  • Ensure effective cost management, procurement, and compliance with contractual requirements for each project.
  • Produce robust, accurate, and timely cost and value reports.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and prepare measurement submissions.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents and administer contract conditions.
  • Provide sound QS advice on cost planning, procurement, contracts, and cost control.
  • Aid in estimating and tendering of projects.
  • Maintain professional relationships with operations teams and provide excellent communication to clients.
  • Present and negotiate variations and valuations with clients.
  • Accurately forecast monthly finances and challenge resources and costs as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to commercial and contractual procedures under the main contract and company standards.
  • Maintain commercial deadlines and foster positive client and project team relationships.
  • Stay updated on industry changes, legislation, and develop new skills to enhance value.
  • Support and promote the company brand, vision, and values.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction field (HNC/HND considered).
  • 1 year of relevant surveying or construction experience preferred.
  • Working towards or obtained MRICS status.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative mindset towards construction projects.
  • Sound commercial awareness and proficiency in IT systems (including Office).
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of commercial reporting.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with NEC/JCT forms of Contract.
  • Clean driving license.
