They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Leiston, Suffolk. Your new role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation and management of constructive geotechnics within major construction projects. This role requires expertise in deep foundations, ground improvement techniques, and the execution of marine-based geotechnical engineering. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects, applying your knowledge and experience to overcome geotechnical challenges. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on geotechnical engineering matters during all project phases, from planning and design to construction and completion.
  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, including site inspections, soil testing, and analysis of data.
  • Design and implement geotechnical solutions for deep foundations, such as diaphragm walls, ground anchors, and piling.
  • Develop and oversee ground improvement techniques to enhance soil properties and stability.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to ensure geotechnical considerations are integrated into overall project planning and design.
  • Assess and manage geotechnical risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Execute and manage large-scale dewatering schemes, where applicable.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on tunnelling projects, as required.
  • Undertake marine/offshore geotechnical investigations and provide input on marine-based geotechnical engineering projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, including geotechnical assessments, feasibility studies, and design documentation.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to address geotechnical concerns and ensure project objectives are met.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline is essential.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) is required.
  • Significant experience in the construction industry, specifically in major project construction, is essential.
  • Proven experience in the implementation and management of constructive geotechnics.
  • Strong expertise in deep foundations, including diaphragm walls, ground anchors, and piling.
  • Experience in ground improvement techniques is necessary.
  • Experience in executing and managing large-scale dewatering schemes is desirable.
  • Experience in tunnelling projects is desirable.
  • Experience in marine/offshore geotechnical engineering is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide innovative geotechnical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant geotechnical software and tools.
