Job Title:Geotechnical Engineer

Salary:£25,000 - £35,000 per annum

Position Overview:

Parkside Recruitment are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting site investigations, analysing soil and rock properties, and providing expert recommendations for a wide range of geotechnical projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging and diverse projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the success of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive site investigations to assess ground conditions, including soil and rock properties, groundwater levels, and geotechnical hazards.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses and interpretation of site data to develop engineering recommendations for foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and other geotechnical features.
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including soil boring logs, laboratory test results, and engineering analyses, adhering to industry standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate geotechnical considerations into project designs and plans.
  • Design and oversee construction of earthworks, deep foundations, ground improvement techniques, and other geotechnical structures, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Conduct stability analyses for slopes, embankments, and excavations using appropriate software and analytical methods.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of geotechnical monitoring and instrumentation plans to evaluate ground behaviour and performance over time.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance during project planning, design, and construction phases, addressing geotechnical challenges and optimizing project outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in geotechnical engineering practices, materials, and technologies, and incorporate innovative solutions into project designs and methodologies.
  • Mentor junior staff members, provide training and guidance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is required.
  • Minimum of 1 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, including site investigation, analysis, and design.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software tools such as gINT, GeoStudio, PLAXIS, or similar programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geotechnical data and provide practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and client interaction, is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
