If you are a passionate, charismatic, and charming individual with experience in Rosette-awarded, high-volume restaurants or gastro pubs with rooms, we want to hear from you! We are excited to be recruiting for a General Manager to join our growing, popular independent Bar restaurant with rooms group, located in the beautiful beachside town of Elie, Fife.

As the recent recipient of the "Pub of the Year" award at the Hospitality Excellence Awards for Scotland, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.

The Ship Inn boasts stunning views of the Firth of Forth and offers a 70-cover dining restaurant, pub, beachfront private dining room, and an outdoor beer garden with a bar and BBQ area. With six individually designed bedrooms, five of which offer breathtaking views of the bay, this is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Above all else - a customer-focused attitude is essential. Both to strive for personally and an expectation that your team will do the same under your leadership and guidance
  • Drive company success by achieving targets in profit, revenue, and customer satisfaction through effective leadership and continuous staff development
  • Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in staff performance through regular assessment, training, and communication, ensuring high service standards
  • Ensure operational efficiency by managing staffing levels, conducting regular performance reviews, and adhering to disciplinary management processes
  • Prioritise customer satisfaction with a focus on exceptional service, engagement, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Oversee compliance with all relevant health, safety, and legal requirements, including fire safety, health and safety policies, and food hygiene regulations

Required Skills:

  • An experienced, commercially savvy operator with similar experience in large, high-volume Restaurant
  • A genuine love for great food and great service
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves and work shifts as required, side by side with the team
  • Comfortable with strategic planning and implementation as well as day-to-day duties
  • A natural at leading and managing others
  • A Mentor and able to support and develop a team of people who will be stepping up into their roles
  • You'll need to be a change agent, challenge the norm and always be open to new ideas
