Functional Skills English Tutor

Salary Range: £30,722.74 to £37,059.78

Location: Thamesmead, London

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours (Mon-Thu 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Fri 8:00 am - 1:00 pm)

We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills English Tutor to join our team within offender learning in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. This role is an opportunity to profoundly impact learners’ lives, aiding their personal development, and helping them contribute positively to their communities.

Day-to-day of the role:

Inspire learners by raising their expectations and aspirations, motivating them to take ownership of their learning journey.

Deliver both accredited and non-accredited programmes, tailored to the needs and interests of the learners.

Engage closely with learners to develop personalised learning plans that equip them with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for positive progression.

Foster an engaging and supportive learning environment to aid both academic and personal growth.

Monitor and assess learners’ progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support their development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Hold a minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE grades 9 to 4 or A* to C or equivalent).

A qualification in the specialist subject area of Functional Skills English.

A proven track record of effective teaching within the subject specialism.

A Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent.

Ability to obtain and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
