The opportunity

QBE are excited to be recruiting a French Speaking Senior compliance Officer to join our Compliance Monitoring team on a 9-month fixed term basis. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is keen to work internationally and lead on Audits. The role can be based anywhere in the UK with possible on site travel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Determine own work priorities and activities within context of agreed plans to ensure the achievement of the Compliance department’s objectives.

  • Monitor regulatory developments and promote team and management awareness.

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of relevant UK regulatory requirements, including where applicable, those relating to insurance intermediation.

  • Knowledge of relevant EU regulatory requirements, including where applicable, those relating to insurance intermediation.

  • Carry out reviews of existing procedures to ensure they enable portfolios to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key internal and external business stakeholders to ensure that service delivery meets the business expectations.

  • Maintain regular communication with peers across QBE group, as appropriate to ensure consistency, transfer of knowledge and promotion of best practice.

  • Ensure portfolios are compliant with UK regulator and overseas regulatory requirements in any territories where business transacted.

  • Provide compliance management information to senior management to ensure best practice is adhered to.

  • Perform ad hoc project work to meet departmental objectives.


Preferred Competencies/Skills

  • Communicates effectively at all levels within the organisation

  • Project management skills to plan, motivate and achieve required deadlines

  • Able to produce MI and detailed reports at various levels

  • Fluent French speaker


Preferred Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of London market insurance practices (in particular an understanding of all relevant insurance company regulations and UK regulatory rules) as they apply to insurers and to insurance mediation activities
