My client a reputable and established professional membership is looking for a French Speaking Head of Events.

Events are the backbone of the Membership organization activity, providing our members with opportunities to expand their networks and gain access to reputable speakers and insights. We deliver over 60 events per year for over 1,500 participants, covering a broad range of topics and formats, both in-person and digital.

Role Summery:

The Head of Events will lead the conception, planning, and execution of all events organized by the Membership Organisation in the UK. This role will ensure that each event aligns with the organisations mission and objectives, fostering business relations. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Managing Director and managing an events team, currently one Events Manager and one Events Assistant.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Event Planning
    • Working closely with the Managing Director to design and implement an annual event strategy that aligns with the Chamber's commercial objectives, engages our stakeholders and provides value to our members at varying levels.
    • Dive deep into understanding members' priorities, challenges, and interests, leveraging this knowledge for event planning.
    • Regularly engage in market research to refresh and innovate our event offerings.
    • Develop a commercially focused event schedule which maximises revenue opportunities from sponsorship and ticket sales.
    • Work through a full sales cycle approach with current and potential sponsors and partners to grow commercial income from events.
    • Manage the overall budget for the department, guaranteeing cost-efficiency and maximum ROI.
  • Event and Vendor Management
    • Oversee the full event lifecycle, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring the smooth running of all logistics, technical setups, and contingency planning.
    • Prepare and manage event budgets, ensuring maximum ROI and cost-efficiency.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts with sponsors, event partners, vendors, venues, and speakers.
    • Identify, recruit and manage high-level speakers from across the political and business stakeholders.
  • Event communications
    • Oversee promotional activities including email campaigns, website updates, and social media buzz.
    • Generate compelling content for event invitations and other related materials.
    • Work in tandem with the Communications team for optimum post-event coverage, adding value for sponsors and partners.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, manage and mentor the events team, setting clear objectives and managing successful performance.
    • Advise the Managing Director and Board on all matters pertaining to events.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in high-level event planning and management
  • Experience of managing event budgets and driving commercial revenue through events.
  • Fluency in English and French.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in a leadership role.

About This Position:

  • Competitive salary of £45,000 - £48,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
  • 25 days annual leave, medical insurance and generous pension contributions
  • Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 09.00-17.00. However, many events, especially those in-person, might fall outside these timings. Your presence is essential at these functions.
  • While you'll enjoy the flexibility of working from home on occasion, your presence at our London office is expected 2 to 3 days a week.
