About the role

Our Freight Customer Service Team is always busy with bookings and enquiries for our Dover, Calais and Dunkerque Ports. Being part of a small, hardworking, fun team of 6 colleagues within the wider Freight Sales department, you’ll be working between the hours of 7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and some Bank Holiday’s, between 7.30am until 4pm, on a rotational shift pattern as follows:

  • 7.30am-4pm
  • 8.00am-4.30pm
  • 8.30am-5pm
  • 9.30am-6pm

You will be tasked with supporting customers with their freight bookings and enquiries via telephone and email, so we need you to be passionate about delivering a great service and efficiently responding to all booking enquires as well as being accurate and focussed on detail, responding to customer enquiries in a professional manner.

You will be responsible for:

  • Provide customers with general customer support and information.
  • Deal with Hazardous cargo, Abnormal loads, customs enquiries, and checking paperwork.
  • Compiling reports to enhance and monitor the service provided.
  • Generate sales leads.
  • Liaising with certain Port Authorities and Government Agencies.
  • Support the Freight Customer Services team when required.
  • Assist the Operations department when required

About you

Our ideal candidate for this role possesses strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills. They should thrive in a team environment, yet also be capable of working independently and demonstrating initiative. The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor is essential. While knowledge of hazardous shipments and experience in the shipping industry are advantageous, they are not required. Above all, we seek someone who is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and computer literate, with a basic understanding of Word and Excel.
