Freelance MRICS Quantity Surveyor
Duration: 6-12 month contract
Location: London
Rates: Competitive day rates outside IR35

About the Role:
My client, a leading construction consultancy, is seeking an experienced and qualified Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a freelance basis for 6-12 months. This is an outside IR35 contract role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of construction projects from initial cost estimating through to final account. You will work closely with the project team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, and contract documentation
  • Conduct measurement and valuation of construction works
  • Manage subcontractor accounts and interim payments
  • Negotiate final accounts and agreement of final figures
  • Report and monitor costs against approved budgets
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Assist with procurement and tendering processes
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors and external consultants

    Requirements:
  • MRICS status
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor on construction projects
  • Excellent working knowledge of JCT
  • Proficient in using QS software packages e.g. CostX
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational, communication and reporting skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • EA/CA experience
