The appointed Food Technician will be a dynamic, highly motivated technician who is passionate about food and nutrition, able to provide a support service to the Technology Department including preparation of materials, setting up equipment for practical classes and assisting in practical lessons.


Requirements for the role:

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to join our dynamic team, to be successful in this role, you must also have:

  • General food education and experience in a similar role
  • GCSE English and Maths A-C or equivalent
  • Food hygiene/health and safety certification
  • First aid qualification or willingness to undertake training

Key responsibilities:

Within this post, you will be required to:

  • Prepare and maintain resources for food technology practical lessons, adhering to health and safety standards and class requirements
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of food preparation and storage areas, as well as classroom spaces
  • Support teachers during practical lessons, including preparing ingredients and equipment as directed and providing student feedback
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as managing stock levels, shopping for supplies, and handling departmental communications
  • Organise and maintain filing systems, manage administrative duties, and ensure efficient resource accessibility within the department


This is an exciting time to join the College as we continue to develop and build on our tradition, with a determined focus on strong teaching through a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College is a two-site College - role holder should be aware that you may be asked to work on either site.
