Based in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire, Whitehouse IT have been working with small to medium sized businesses since 1989, helping them compete and grow. They deliver high quality IT support and software development services.

Overview: 
We are currently looking for a First Line Support Apprentice to provide support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to their job role, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non routine problems.

Salary:
£14,000 - £16,000 per annum

Key Tasks & Responsibilities: [will include but not be limited to:] 

  • Providing first line support (both on the phone and in person)
  • Managing own workload of tickets to ensure SLAs are met 
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers 
  • Prioritise and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately 2nd and 3rd line engineers 
  • Installations of new hardware and software
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting 
  • Equipment fault finding/troubleshooting
  • Perform fixes at the user desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, and configuring systems and applications 

What we are looking for: 
Skills and qualities: 

  • Exceptional customer service skills, verbal / written communication, and telephone manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Takes own initiative  
  • Logical problem solver
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Desktop support experience with familiarity around laptop and desktop builds running the latest versions of Microsoft Windows
  • Office 365 Administration (passwords, users, groups, permissions)

Entry requirements: 

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:
40 hours a week, 
Monday to Friday (8:30am to 5:30pm with 1 hour for lunch)
