They will continue to build upon these successes and expand into new markets and industries, producing innovative and competitive products and technologies that advance the goal of a zero-carbon emission future.

We are delighted to be recruiting for this newly created Fire Safety Engineer role.

The Opportunity:
In the newly created role of Fire Safety Engineer you will be a integral member of a core SHEQ team at AESC UK. You will be supporting all aspects of Fire Safety, with particular focus towards the complex requirements of hazardous materials and manufacturing processes within an upper tier COMAH establishment.
  • Experience within Fire Safety environments, particularly around Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Investigations
  • Considerable experience and understanding of COMAH standards, with a particular emphasis on fire risk management around chemical and hazardous/toxic materials
  • Preference to have worked on a top tier COMAH site, but will consider those from a Construction Fire Safety background (COMAH build)
  • Experience of Fire Safety Management Planning and emergency pre-plans (MAH’s) in order to support the site COMAH team
  • Particularly strong experience within Fire Loading modelling/calculations
  • Expert knowledge of fire-fighting equipment and techniques across a wide range of fire risk scenarios such as process reactions, waste management, storage, transportation, etc.
  • Well developed communication skills, to be able to influence & challenge effectively and to ensure the highest standards of safety across the site
  • This role could also suit someone from a Chemical/Process Engineering background

About you:
The Fire Safety Engineer is a key role reporting directly to the SHEQ Senior Manager, though in the initial stages you will be heavily involved within the new build Project Team (80% of the time) to support and advise on the safe setup of the Gigafactory.  As this is a new role within the business and given the significant risk of fire on site, you must be able to effectively assess multiple fire risk/hazard scenarios and subsequently develop, implement and monitor safe systems of work within a highly hazardous environment. Specifically you will look to take responsibility for fire loading calculations and extinguishants. There is a need to review the fire protection systems in place (completed by consultants) are fit for purpose, whilst undertaking modelling for additional equipment which represents other explosive/flammable risks.  You will have the ability to work very well on your own initiative and have very strong communication skills across all levels.
