DK Recruitment are very excited to be searching for an enthusiastic and innovative thinking Financial Controller on behalf of their client based in Totnes. In managing operations and processes your impact will be vast and key to the continuing success of the business.

Within this role you will supervise the Assistant Accountant and Finance Assistant in the day-to-day finance operations and overseeing of accurate reporting and control of commercial and credit risks. Supporting the Finance Director in the providing of timely and accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Operational duties and responsibilities

- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations within the company, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported and comply with relevant regulations.

- Manage regular stock and general supplier payments and expenses within out company polices and limits, flagging and resolving any issues arising.

- Manage all regular tax and regulatory/compliance tasks including responsibility for corporation tax, VAT and P11d’s etc.

- Preparation and checking of quarterly VAT returns for approval before submission within relevant deadlines and any other related statutory returns.

- Actively encourages company initiated training programs, making part of our culture.

- Coaches and guides the team to consistently achieve their best, by being an ambassador and role model for the business.

- Builds a stable team based around a culture that both compliments and enhances the feel of the business.

- Creates and maintains a positive working environment at all times, with a polite, honest, and friendly approach.

- To be conscious and committed towards the environment, local community, and the companies wish to be Eco friendly and Ethical in how they operate.

Profile

- Relevant accountancy qualification and minimum 5 years’ experience

- Have a can-do attitude, be open minded and flexible in approach

- Highly organised and efficient with project management experience

- Strong leadership skills and practice "leadership by example"

- Able to accept constructive feedback in a positive way
