Financial Controller

• Annual Salary: £70,000 - £80,000
• Location: London (with occasional travel to other UK offices)

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a leading engineering consulting firm’s expanding London team. The ideal candidate will support the Finance Director in delivering high-quality management information and help business teams understand commercial performance through analysis and insight. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for the industry and a desire to contribute to global projects.

• Work closely with the Finance Director to share management information and analysis findings.
• Oversee the month-end close process and manage internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
• Prepare timely consolidated budget reports and conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliation reviews.
• Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations, particularly with UK GAAP.
• Review all VAT, CIS, and Domestic Reverse Charge submissions, and annual corporate tax and R&D calculations.
• Provide commercial financial training across the business and develop the finance team.
• Maintain a robust financial control environment across the UK finance teams.

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 3 years of post-qualified experience.
• Technically sound with UK GAAP principles and a solid understanding of all accounting areas.
• Experience within the professional services sector, ideally within construction or engineering.
• Strong financial systems experience, with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and SharePoint being highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerBI.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills and experience.
• Proven experience managing people and inspiring teams.
• Credibility with stakeholders and solid working relationships with external parties and groups.
• Experience working within a changing environment and driving continuous improvement.
