The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful individual will overseeing the business’s day-to-day financial operations. There will also be opportunity to finance business partner with budget holders and get involved in various add- value areas and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process including variance analysis
  • Analyse financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
  • KPI reporting, trend and cost analysis
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to optimise liquidity and mitigate financial risks.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and resolve any audit or tax issues.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Lead and mentor a team of three, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems, processes, and policies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and achieve company objectives.

Person Specification

  • You will be a fully qualified Accountant or within 6 months of qualifying (CIMA/ACCA/ACA). First time movers ACA Qualified from a firm of accountants would be a strong fit, as will individuals currently working in a commercial business.
  • You’ll be dynamic with a genuine passion for providing exceptional support and enjoy being a fundamental part of a SME business environment.
  • You will be professional, enthusiastic, and proactive with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. You will be able to prioritise and manage your varied workload efficiently.
  • You'll have excellent communication skills
