VisionFR are very excited to be acting on behalf of an outstanding Media Communications Agency in their search for an ambitious and commercially minded Financial Controller. They are highly regarded as a successful, leading independent media planning & buying agency and have an extensive international network of clients. The role will initially report into a Part Time Finance Director but for those who are ambitious and able the objective is to grow into the FD role.

The Financial Controller responsibilities will cover:

Internal Process

  • Oversee a 6 strong finance team.
  • Evaluate team and rationalise where possible
  • Ensure finance system and process is fit for purpose
  • Enable smooth communication between finance and wider teams, ensuring clear lines of responsibility.
  • Chair Data Governance meetings.
  • Oversee the finalisation of implementing access accounting software.
  • Mentor direct team

Day To Day Financial Operations

  • Manage forecast accuracy
  • Quarterly Reforecasting
  • Production of full month end reporting and Preparation of Board Pack for both internal use and Private Equity investors
  • P&L, Cashflow Forecasting, Balance Sheet and Debtor Management
  • Oversee Debt repayment.
  • Ownership of External Audit relationship
  • Management of income line forecasts
  • Weekly client income meetings
  • Management of income trackers
  • Income analysis (variance YoY, v budget etc)
  • Support commercial director in commercial discussions & client proposals
  • Workfront analysis and insight - lead to completion then handover to wider SLT
  • Departmental profitability analysis
  • Digital only income tracking
  • Audits - client, performance, media
  • Competitor Analysis incl. MKS gold standard reporting
  • Rate card analysis
  • Productivity analysis
  • Finance process/ systems upgrade
  • Tools and systems audit
  • Own agency tools & subscription

Financial Controller Key Attributes Required:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA)
  • Will have worked within a Media Planning & Buying Agency
  • Strong communication skills Both internally and externally
  • Strong Business partnering skills.
  • Strong Strategic and Commercial skills
  • Desire to grow into the Finance Director
  • A pro-active self-starter
  • Some knowledge of M&A a distinct advantage
