Purpose of the job:

  • Working alongside the Group Financial Controller and Senior Management Accountant this role will take the lead on financial reporting.
  • The role will have direct ownership of certain high impact and high-risk accounts as well reviewing and providing guidance to the finance assistants on the BAU accounts.
  • The role holder will report directly to the Group Financial Controller.
  • The role will need good UK GAAP and IFRS knowledge.
  • Will be a key part in preparing financial statements for audit and writing technical papers on accounting treatment.

Job Summary:

  • Drive improvement to controls and reporting of the balance sheets for the Group.
  • Establish a monthly review and reporting process which provides details movements on the balance sheets.
  • Develop a review process whereby each GL accounts is monitored and risks identified for action review.
  • Oversee a review of the balance sheet reconciliations in place and coach understanding of each account they are responsible for if gaps identified.
  • Build a clear and robust cash flow and working capital report.
  • Contribute to the accounting standards knowledge of the wider team. Set up learning updates for self and the wider team. Establish self as go-to team members for accounting standards queries.
  • Key contact during the audit of the financial statements.
  • To participate in appropriate company and departmental training, competence and development initiatives.

  • Able to convey points clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.

  • Organised with ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
