Financial Accountant, Cambridge (hybrid)

£45,000 - £55,000

Reed Finance Cambridge are exclusively partnered with an early stage Scientific Technology business in the recruitment of a Financial Accountant role.

Reporting to an inspirational CFO, this role offers a real route to Financial Controller in the next few years and even Finance Director further down the line. The company mission is amazing and their niche is becoming increasingly relevant. The market in years to come will be huge.

This will suit a newly-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a practice or industry background. Exceptional part-qualified accountants with relevant experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

• Monthly management accounts.
• Responsibility for month-end close.
• Prepare statutory statements for presentation to auditors, answering queries and delivering clean and accurate financial statements.
• Maintaining ledgers, the chart of accounts and organisation and project hierarchies.  
• Financial policies: select and accurately apply the relevant accounting standards.
• Complete the end-to-end monthly cycle of activities including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation and ledger closure.
• Maintain a strong control environment by completing and documenting control activities, carrying out risk assessments and communicating findings.
• Credit reviews, stock reviews, economic appraisals, basic financial modelling, commercial finance activity and process improvement.

You will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Qualified or senior part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Good Excel skills.
• Ability to pick up new finance systems and process quickly.
• Strong communication and business partnering skills.
• Focused on improvement.
