Financial Accountant | Permanent | London | Hybrid | £47,000 - £52,000 + Benefits

For a global humanitarian charity in London, we're recruiting a permanent Financial Accountant. This role will ensure all financial accounting is effective, and that robust financial controls are in place, including for overseas branches - supporting all system users. This is a key role in developing and maintaining the accounting system - Microsoft Business Central - and it will lead the month-end processes, ensuring that balance sheet accounts are reconciled. Reporting to the Head of Finance, and supporting them with tax issues, and year-end statutory accounts schedules, the Financial Accountant will also line manage a Finance Officer.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading all month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain the accounting system, Microsoft Business Central
  • Act as administrator to accounting system and provide staff training on controls, policies, and procedures
  • Lead on updates to finance system
  • Produce quarterly VAT returns and maintain the Fixed Assets register
  • Lead on the development of financial processes and systems
  • Support in the preparation of annual statutory accounts for Group and supporting schedules
  • Support with year-end statutory audits and help coordinate branch and subsidiary audits
  • Manage the Finance Officer and oversee weekly payment runs, bank reconciliations and journals

What you'll offer us:

  • Part-qualified, CCAB or Qualified by Experience
  • Strong experience of managing a financial accounting system
  • Experience of building statutory accounts from trial balance
  • Experience of supporting closure of accounts and group reporting
  • Month-end and year-end experience
  • Strong experience of international accounts payable
  • VAT, Charity Tax, and multi-currency experience
  • Ideally Microsoft Business Central experience
  • Ideally international NGO / Charity experience
