We currently have an opening for a Financial Accountant within a large organisation. The size of this organisation means that this role is very likely to open the door to permanent opportunities and a range of fantastic benefits. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on and deliver the financial review of project information in a fast-paced change environment including:

  • Any required first level scrutiny of financial and supporting information provided by applicants to ensure compliance with Innovate UK, State Aid and Competitions guidance requirements
  • Financial viability review of applicants to assess suitability for grant provision and recording the same.
  • Financial eligibility review of detailed project information in application documents, associated appendices and finance forms to establish compliance with policy, guidance and State Aid
  • Liaison with applicants to resolve issues identified by financial review, including timely documentation as supporting evidence
  • Work with other teams to integrate the results of participant project financial reviews with other requirements and processes
  • During the life of a project support and give advice on project changes and issues escalated by the Operations and Technology teams, including Monitoring Officers
  • Contribute to and deliver process improvements as part of ensuring an efficient, effective financial review process, whilst working with other teams to ensure optimum end to end processes for Innovate UK and our customers
  • Support other ad-hoc business requirements as necessar

Person Specification:

  • Fully or Part Qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA), or equivalent experience (QBE).
  • Experience in working in financial & data analysis roles in complex organisations.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel (Pivot tables, lookups, etc), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams (essential), Access, Power BI & other data analysis tools (desirable).
  • Understanding & experience of working with public sector finance & governance frameworks.
  • Self-directed; taking ownership for your own performance & achieving the outcomes expected for the role & able to prioritise workload as necessary & to work to demanding deadlines.
  • Strong numerical, analytical & critical thinking & problem-solving skills, with ability to distil complex & often incomplete management information into the key elements required to deliver projects & influence decision making at a strategic level.
  • Excellent verbal, written, report writing, communication & listening skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts & analyses into clear, easy-to-understanding presentations to senior partners to ensure decisions are made effectively & using the right information
