Financial Accountant
A great opportunity for a qualified Accountant with experience across both Commercial and Not for Profit sectors to join this excellent membership organisation in an exciting role. You will be responsible for the financial accounting function of one division, including preparation, analysis and reconciliation of the monthly balance sheet; ensuring all intercompany accounts are reconciled and the reconciling items are cleared promptly.
In addition, ensuring that all cash transactions are identified, posted and allocated promptly (via supervision of a Finance Officer) and preparing the quarterly VAT return for the division and the VAT return on behalf of the group.
Regular responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the financial accounting function, including monthly balance sheet preparation, analysis, and reconciliation.
- Ensure all intercompany accounts are reconciled and any discrepancies are promptly resolved.
- Supervise the accurate and timely posting and allocation of cash transactions.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Review and improve financial processes and procedures, aligning them with group practices.
- Collaborate with the Business Accountant in the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary information for consolidation schedules.
- Maintain fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations and fixed asset register upkeep.
- Contribute to the procurement and implementation of a new Finance system for the group.
- Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
- Proven experience in financial accounting within a similar role.
- Strong understanding of UK accounting, VAT, and Corporation tax legislation, and Financial Reporting Standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage and supervise a team effectively.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, with a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
