Financial Accountant

Your new companyA registered charity and higher education organisation providing world-class music education are seeking an interim Financial Accountant with the option of day rate or a fixed-term contract.

Your new role

• Prepare annual consolidated financial statements for the organisation and its two subsidiaries
• Lead on accounting for current and long-term investment holdings managed by brokers
• Lead on accounting for reserve movements across the organisation's restricted and designated funds
• Work closely with fundraising colleagues across the Academy to ensure appropriate treatment of gifts received;
• Lead on the accounting for and financial management of awards payments made to students;
• Prepare and submit financial returns to the Office for Students and Charity Commission, including the Annual Financial Return, TRAC return and HEB(CI) return.
• Develop financial models as required and in liaison with other senior managers, particularly for reserves, awards and funding forecasts
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial accounting systems and processes
• Monitor and report on performance against budgets throughout the academic year, assessing and monitoring specific project finances.
• Be a key team contact for external auditors

What you'll need to succeed

• Fully qualified accountant
• Proven financial accounting experience; year end statutory accounts
• Proven experience of Reserves and Investment accounting
• Higher Education & Charity Sector experience desirable
• Please highlight experience of OfS returns (TRAC, HEB(CI))
