Hays Finance is delighted to be working exclusively with a large Not for Profit organisation in the region who are looking to add a Financial Accountant to their organisation to support them through a period of transition.
Your new role
The financial accountant will ensure the continuity of the organisation's financial management and an agreed reporting framework whilst a new finance system is implemented. You will be working with the existing finance team and provide cover where necessary whilst ensuring financial controls, management reporting and statutory year-end requirements are maintained.

Duties include;

  • Produce and review the organisations on consolidated financial reports with commentary on a monthly basis whilst investigating accounting irregularities, mistakes or potential fraud.
  • Play an active role in ensuring the smooth running of the accounting department.
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts, positively monitoring performance against budgets on an ongoing basis, supporting and challenging budget holders to understand key drivers, variances and ensuring accurate and timely information, both standard and tailored, is provided to enable appropriate decision-making.
  • Coordinate, analyse and report on the consolidated budgets/ forecasts to the Head of Finance and work closely with budget holders ensuring timetables and adhere to and budgets align to directorate plans and the organisational objectives.
  • Work with the operations team to ensure smooth running and accuracy in all leger work and payment processes
  • Design and provide financial training to new budget holders and any ongoing training needs that may be required
  • Oversee that financial records are fully reconciled and maintained to a high degree of accuracy and underpin the preparation of management accounts, year-end accounts and the relevant audit file.
  • Coordinate, analyse and report on the consolidated budgets/forecasts to the Head of Finance and work closely with budget holders ensuring timetables are adhered to and budgets align to directorate plans and the organisational objectives.
  • Maintain and regularly report on a cash forecast
  • Cover the finance manager as and when required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Finance Qualification CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience of working successfully in a similar role
  • Detailed knowledge of financial reporting and control environments
  • Ability to present complex accounting information in an easy-to-understand format
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at a director level
  • MS Office experience including strong Microsoft Excel skills
