Our client is a leading provider of rural broadband services based in London. They have completed several key acquisitions in the past few years, with secure investment in place to deliver on significant growth projections.

Overview:

Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The Financial Accountant will be responsible for supporting monthly and annual financial close, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, supporting in process improvement, automation and data accuracy projects and supporting financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and growing organisation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Close & Financial Reporting: Assist the Senior Finance Manager in the scheduling and completion of month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements, maintaining balance sheet integrity including monthly account reconciliations, reporting financial statement variance analysis and producing commentary for monthly performance packs.
  2. General Ledger & Subledger Transactional Management: Maintain the transactional integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and subledgers including creation of consistent data entry processes, automating export and analysis capabilities and ensuring data quality management at every stage of the transactional process.
  3. Technical Accounting: Ensure accounting processes are in accordance with accounting standards, with focus on revenue recognition and capitalisation policies.
  4. Compliance, Controls and Process Improvement: Support the maintenance of the internal control environment and provide opportunities for extra efficiency and automation across finance processes. Understand the data flow through financial systems and work on consolidating data for increased reporting.
  5. Audit Support: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide documentation, explanations, and support for audit procedures and inquiries.
  6. Tax Compliance: Assist in corporation tax preparation and lead monthly VAT and Payroll tax submissions.
  7. Inventory Accuracy & Recognition: Ensure accuracy of inventory balances through liaison with warehousing team, including creating inventory movement and continuity schedules, maintain exception reporting and manage GRNI provisions.

Qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent candidate preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting or related role, either within practice or industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong excel skills and previous experience in data warehouse and analysis systems preferred (SQL, Snowflake, PowerBI).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (NetSuite & Salesforce experience preferred but not necessary).
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and ability to apply accounting principles to complex transactions as well as consolidation experience.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
