Position: Finance Officer

Location : Taunton Somerset, TA1 4DY(Hybrid working, attend County Hall, Taunton when required)

Contract length : 8-9months (with possibility of extension)

Responsibilities:

  • This post will be supporting our Education and Inclusion team within finance, and in addition to the general duties above this position will support with the following duties:
  • Supporting with forecasting and management of budgets for a range of cost centres within Education and Inclusion Services.
  • Allocating High Needs Top Up Funding for Children & Young People across a range of different types of education providers (Early Years, Mainstream, Special, FE, Independent etc).
  • Assisting with the day to day payments process for High Needs, balancing budgets, forecasting and reporting to SEND operational managers on a monthly basis.
  • Supporting with school academisation payments and final settlements and assisting with recording various financial returns from schools.

Experience:

  • Analysis and interpretation of financial information
  • Financial/Budget monitoring experience
  • Experience of working in a finance environment and dealing with complex accounting and statutory reporting issues
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of County Council accounting methods/systems (SAP)
  • Deals with queries and requests in a professional manner.
  • customer focussed.

Plusses / Desirable:

  • Completed or working towards Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management including tools and techniques. or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management including tools and techniques.
