A professional business services' company, based on the outskirts of Exeter, are seeking to appoint a part time Finance Manager. This role iis ideal for someone wanting to reduce their working hours, but still seeking a posiiton with responsibility.

Working one day per week, the role is suited to someone AAT qualified, or qualified by experience in a similar position, who is seeking a varied, stand-alone, responsible role in a friendly and professional working environment.

The work covers every aspect of the accounts, including; processing ledger transactions, payroll, reconciliations, month end journalling, culminating in production of the first draft of the monthly management accounts.

This is an integral role within the business, and requires; excellent attention to detail, a thorough understanding of the production of monthly accounts, confidence to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, the ability to use accounting software and spreadsheets to organise and manage the monthly routines, and a sense of pride in the work undertaken.

More specific duties include:

• Processing weekly payroll, knowledge of statutory payments and pension contributions is essential.
• Processing ledger transactions, inputting supplier invoices and reconciling creditor accounts to statements, raising sales invoices and contacting customers in relation to payment dates.
• Processing bank payments and receipts.
• Management of monthly accrual and prepayment journals.
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Production of quarterly VAT returns.
• Production of profit and loss and balance sheet reports on Sage.
• End of year preparation.

The ideal candidate will have strong proven financial accounting knowledge within a SME or OMB, and good excel skills, Sage software experience would be advantageous but not essential.
