Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing property development business based in the heart of Birmingham. They are committed to creating innovative and sustainable development projects. With a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction, we are seeking a talented Finance Director / CFO to lead their financial strategy and contribute to their continued success.

Role Overview:

As the Finance Director / CFO , you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the company. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and strategic planning. Working closely with the executive team, you will provide insightful analysis and guidance to drive business growth and profitability. This role is based in the Birmingham (central) office and offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities.

Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the development and implementation of the company's financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis. Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision making and optimise financial performance.

Capital Management: Manage the company's capital structure and financing strategies to support growth initiatives and optimise capital allocation. Evaluate and assist the negotiation of funding options, as well as joint ventures and strategic partnerships.

Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks associated with projects, including financial analysis of contractors, and funders/investment partners. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks and enhance overall risk management practices.

Rigour and Culture: Identify, assess and improve financial processes, systems and controls.

Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, including financial statements and management reports. Oversee compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements. Oversee and lead VAT and tax strategies for development and land transactions, working with external accountants, tax advisors, and legal teams.

Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the executive team and the broader organisation. Collaborate with teams to drive business initiatives and achieve strategic objectives.

Investor Relations: Work alongside other teams with investors, and other external stakeholders regarding funding. Build and maintain strong relationships with investors and communicate effectively to support the company's funding efforts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CFO / Finance Director, preferably within the property development or land sector.
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of driving business results through strategic financial management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Desirable - Understanding of property development industry dynamics, including knowledge markets, methodologies, development processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
