Finance Business Partner

Blair West is supporting a well-known, established business in the heart of Newcastle City Centre. This is a unique opportunity to work for a company synonymous with the city and the people of the region.

• Set annual budgets in conjunction with budget holders and forecast throughout the year as required.
• Produce monthly management accounts to agreed deadlines, including detailed and accurate variance analysis, commentary, and KPI/BI data.
• Distribute weekly sales reports and individual monthly reports to budget holders and senior stakeholders, meet with each as required and respond to requests for financial information and analyses.
• Work closely with relevant budget holders to provide analysis and insight into their weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual financial data and provide more ad-hoc flash reporting when required.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed at the month's end and promptly take action on any outstanding items.
• Ownership of the Retail & Licensing Fixed Asset register, including fixed asset accounting and analysis.
• Responsible for tracking any capital projects, including monitoring and reporting of ROI.
• Provide regular stock sell information to senior stakeholders through reporting, ensuring monthly stock valuation accurately reflects physical stock holding and reconciles to the system.
• Accurately account for slow-moving and obsolete stock, recommending appropriate provisioning levels to the Financial Controller, Head of Retail, and Head of e-commerce.
• Responsible for implementing and identifying appropriate controls across the Retail division.
• Monitor Retail debtors and creditors, escalating any issues arising to the Financial Controller.
• Prepare/validate quarterly VAT returns for Retail & Licensing.
• Presenting information to senior finance colleagues and providing financial insight as required.

• Experience working in Finance within the Retail sector.
• Good working knowledge of Retail VAT accounting.
• Management accountant or Finance Business Partner experience and ability to produce monthly accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
• Proactively looking for ways of improving/optimising financial processes - efficiency and output quality.
• The ability to negotiate with and influence senior operational business leaders.
• The ability to effectively summarise and interpret data.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience in financial performance reporting.
