Job Title – Finance Assistant

Location – Nottingham

Salary - £22500 - £26000

Join a prestigious Nottingham-based business with a rich history, seeking their next Finance Assistant. Situated within a close-knit finance department, this role reports directly to the Finance Manager. Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential support to the Finance Manager, including furnishing financial information crucial for business operations.
  • Take charge of daily credit control activities and efficiently manage the collection of customer debt.
  • Initiate and maintain Customer and Supplier accounts on Sage.
  • Execute the processing of Sales orders and generation of Sales Invoices and payment applications.
  • Upload Invoices onto Customer Portals as required and generate Purchase Orders on Sage.
  • Validate nominal coding and match PODs for Supplier invoices.
  • Handle Bank/Cash Payments & Receipts processing on Sage.
  • Ensure the Sage System is updated regularly and accurately.
  • Manage Credit Card Expenses on Excel and Sage platforms.
  • Keep Product Costs updated on Sage and maintain Sales Orders in spreadsheets.
  • Maintain an up-to-date CRM system and assist with general finance team duties.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience within a company finance team.
  • Proven track record in credit control responsibility.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work autonomously, multitask, and think critically.
  • Eagerness to enhance your finance skills and adapt to evolving roles and company growth.
  • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personable, friendly demeanor with exceptional listening skills.
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated team player.

Experience:

Experience with Sage software preferred, or equivalent proficiency in other accounting software.

AAT or ACCA Level 2 minimum with recent experience in a busy finance team.

Experience using a CRM system beneficial.

Previous experience in construction, water industry, or related fields advantageous.

Knowledge of CIS & DRC desirable.

Customer service experience a plus.

The Package:

Office hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Salay ranging from £22,500 to £26,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

Free onsite parking and company pension scheme.

20 days holidays per year plus 8 bank holidays, with additional accrued holiday days possible after 2 years of service.

Regular training opportunities provided.

Full Christmas shutdown period.
