Salary: From £35k+ DOE

About Us:

Fumair are a leading family-run UK SME specialising in the manufacture and maintenance of fume cupboards and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems. We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and professional person to join our busy service and maintenance team.

The Role:

As a Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers meet their safety and compliance requirements, by attending their premises (universities, research establishments, schools etc) to test, maintain and repair their fume cupboards and LEVs. Occasional nights away will be required (with expenses and accommodation paid) and early starts and/or late evenings are a regular requirement.

Constant travel will be required for this role; therefore, a full UK Valid driving license is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive examinations and tests of fume cupboards and LEV systems, adhering to the guidelines outlined by BSEN 14175 and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) HSG258 document
  • Prepare detailed reports encompassing precise measurements, observations, and recommendations for enhancing system performance
  • Effectively communicate with clients, offering technical guidance and advice to address their specific needs
  • Maintain accurate records of work conducted, including test results, remedial actions, and maintenance activities
  • Collaborate effectively within a small team, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Exhibit the ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently, demonstrating self-motivation and a strong work ethic
  • Apply strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills to identify and resolve system faults promptly and effectively
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work

Qualifications:

  • BOHS P601 qualification preferred, but not essential, as training can be provided
  • Good English and maths GCSE grades or above
  • A full and clean UK driving licence (for manual vehicles) is essential
  • Good technical and mechanical skills
  • Basic electrical knowledge would be advantageous
  • Must complete an enhanced DBS/criminal record check
