The Job You’ll Do;

  • Routine service & maintenance.
  • Preparation of annual insurance surveys and NDE Examinations.
  • To participate in supporting the company with factory boiler testing prior to despatch.
  • To support the company in the commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of products to overseas clients.
  • Coordinate activities when working with apprentices and/or less knowledgeable or skilled engineers to meet customer expectations and utilisation.
  • Work in a confined space when appropriate.
  • Repairs or replacement of valves, sight glasses and gauge cocks etc.
  • Undertake routine service, cleaning & maintenance activities on associated equipment.
  • Competent and skilful in the preparation and reinstatement of steam, hot water boilers and ancillary equipment for/or following annual insurance surveys.
  • Participate in providing and supporting the company’s 24 hr breakdown cover.
  • Competently undertaking burner servicing, both in gas and oil.
  • Able to understand and interpret combustion results from a flue gas analyser and adjust the control equipment effectively and competently.
  • Undertake repair or replacement of failed components and be competent in the diagnosis of common faults and reinstatement of replaced equipment.
  • Provide and deliver product familiarisation when handing over commissioned products to the client.
  • Lead by example to ensure colleagues and Trainee/Apprentice Service Engineers understand and comply with both company and site-specific Health & Safety procedures.

About You;

  • The company is very happy to consider a range of candidates for the role, including experienced field service engineers, trainee level or you may have worked in the armed forces inn a technical role.
  • You will be multi-skilled, with electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Gas Safe Qualified is desirable, and full training is available.
  • Any experience of steam plant would be advantageous.
  • Ideally hold a recognised electrical qualification or have completed a recognised apprenticeship programme.
  • At least a basic, or ideally comprehensive Electrical knowledge, able to read and interpret schematic drawings.
  • Able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of boilers and burners and associated controls equipment (desirable).
  • Experience using diagnostic tools e.g. Multi-meter, clamp-meter, flue gas analysers.
  • Openness to undertaking additional training and qualifications if required.
  • Ideally hold a BOAS qualification.
  • Ideally hold an IGAS Qualification.
